Palo Verde National Park encompasses one of the most important wetlands of Central America.
Throughout the year, the rivers, mangroves, and marshlands are home to resident and migrant water birds. Animals sharing this world of land and water include white-tailed deer, coyotes, white-nosed coatimundi, howler and white-faced monkeys, iguanas, and crocodiles. Wildlife is plentiful from tiny hummingbirds feeding at heliconia flowers, to huge and flamboyant pink Roseate Spoonbills.
Enjoy a changing countryside of savannahs, plantations, and little villages on your way to the pontoon boat, one of the easiest and most rewarding ways to explore Palo Verde on the Tempisque River, which borders the National Park.
The tour passes through a wide variety of habitats, including pastureland and mangroves. Observe huge crocodiles resting under the sun, monkeys moving quickly in the trees, and diverse bird species such as the Anhinga (Snake Bird), Roseate Spoonbill, Wood Storks, the endangered and rare Jabiru (largest bird in Central America), Blue Herons, White Ibis, and more.
An amount of contribution to the Bolsón community is included in the tour when you book.
