Explore the shelter of a great variety of wildlife. See hundreds of birds, crocodiles, monkeys, and iguanas, as you relax in a jungle boat cruising slowly through the Tempisque River.
Palo Verde National Park encompasses one of the most important wetlands of Central America. Throughout the year the rivers, mangroves, and marshlands of resident and migrant water birds sharing their world of land and water are animals such as white-tailed deer, coyotes, white-nosed coatimundi, howler and white-faced monkeys, iguanas, crocodiles.
Wildlife is plentiful from tiny hummingbirds feeding at heliconia flowers, to huge and flamboyant pink Roseate Spoonbills.
Enjoy a changing countryside of savannahs, plantations, and little villages on your way to the pontoon boat, one of the easiest and most rewarding ways to explore Palo Verde on the Tempisque River, which borders the National Park.
Observe huge crocodiles resting under the sun, monkeys moving quickly in the trees, and diverse bird species such as the Anhinga (Snake Bird), Roseate Spoonbill, Wood Storks, the endangered and rare Jabiru (largest bird in Central America), Blue Herons, White Ibis, and more.
After lunch, we will visit The Beneficio Matambú home of Diriá Coffee, where you can learn about different processes of coffee production in the area and the treatment of solid and liquid wastes.
The day will not be complete without a taste of the exquisite Diriá Coffee.
